English Premier League side Brentford are looking to Major League Soccer to make a signing during the January transfer window as it has been reported that they are in talks with FC Cincinnati to acquire the services of Brandon Vasquez.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Fernando Esquivel, the West London team have had the forward on their wish list and are confident they can get a deal done during the month-long window. The news of the proposed move comes at a time when Brentford will also welcome back their primary forward Ivan Toney in the middle of January after serving an eight-month suspension for gambling offenses.
Vazquez, 25, started to make headlines in the 2022 Major League Soccer campaign when he scored 18 goals in 33 appearances for Cincinnati. His numbers during the 2023 season took a dip as he only bagged eight goals in 29 league games.
The California native’s performances have earned call-ups to the U.S. men’s national team as earned his first start and goal for them in a 2-1 defeat to Serbia on January 25, 2023. He would then go on to make his competitive debut for the team in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup as he scored three goals during the tournament.
