It looks like Paul Arriola is heading back to Liga MX as reports have surfaced that Club America is near a deal with D.C. United to sign the winger.
According to various reports, clubs south of the border and in Major League Soccer have made inquiries about the 26-year-old as he prepares to enter his sixth season in the United States’ top-tier league. It seems America’s interest goes back to December last year as another report states that the Mexico City-based club was in advanced talks with United.
Arriola is no stranger to Liga MX as he started his professional career there in 2013 with Club Tijuana before returning stateside. During his time with the Xolos, he would score nine goals in 108 appearances.
Since making the move to D.C. in 2017, he has 20 goals and 16 assists in 89. He also spent a short period on loan with Swansea City in the English Championship in 2021.
Liga MX’s Clausura season got underway recently, with Club America getting things going with a 1-1 draw with Puebla.
