Report: Arsenal seeks Weston McKennie in swap deal with Juventus

The summer transfer window may have closed but that doesn’t stop the rumblings on deals in the future as it appears that Weston McKennie may have a new suitor in Arsenal as they are looking to complete a swap deal with Juventus.

According to a report, the English Premier League club is looking to offload their midfielder Granit Xhaka as he seems to be struggling to gain Gunners’ head coach Mikel Arteta’s trust. With Albert Sambi Lokonga and Thomas Partey signed over the past two summers, he has fallen down the depth chart.

Now, Arsenal appears to have their sights on Italy and Juventus as the Serie A side has sputtered out of the gate so far this season. With only one win from their first five games, and attempting to get their finances in order, the Bianconeri could be welcome to offloading a few high-priced players from their books.

McKennie seems to be the player in the sights of Arsenal as the midfielder, like Xhaka, appears to not be a favorite of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

While the 23-year-old has played in three games for Juventus so far this season, including their 3-2 win over Spezia on Wednesday, an additional defensive midfielder is reportedly what Allegri is looking for when the winter transfer window opens in January.

Arsenal is not the only English club reportedly interested in McKennie. Fellow top-flight clubs Tottenham and Aston Villa have had an eye on the former Schalke man, with reports saying there are plans for a deal in January.
