Polish Recap: Robert Deziel Jr. Shines in Warsaw as Other Americans Battle for Minutes

1 minute, 21 seconds Read

Robert Deziel Jr. was once again the standout American player in the Polish top flight this weekend, delivering another commanding shift in the capital club’s colors. Facing a physical, high-intensity atmosphere, Deziel anchored the pitch for 82 minutes during Legia Warsaw’s hard-fought 1-1 road draw against Cracovia.

Legia’s defensive solidity flowed directly through the American, who showcased sharp tactical awareness on both ends of the pitch. Deziel opened up Cracovia’s backline with one chance created while logging ten defensive contributions, including three tackles, five recoveries, and six clearances. His positional discipline under pressure snuffed out dangerous transitions, reaffirming his status as an indispensable pillar in Legia’s midfield as they contend near the top of the table.

While Deziel enjoyed another influential outing, minutes proved far harder to come by for the remainder of the American contingent across Poland:

  • Kahveh Zahiroleslam (Cracovia) appeared from the bench against Deziel’s Legia side, entering the contest for the final five minutes of the 1-1 draw.
  • Kellyn Acosta (Pogoń Szczecin) came on as a substitute to log eight minutes of action, helping close out a 1-0 victory over GKS Katowice.
  • Adam Basse (Raków Częstochowa) made a late cameo, playing the final three minutes of Raków’s 2-1 away triumph against Wieczysta Kraków.
  • Maximilian Dietz (Górnik Zabrze) was an unused substitute in Górnik’s 1-1 tie with Piast Gliwice, as he remains sidelined from the rotation.

With Deziel continually dictating matches on both ends of the pitch, he remains the clear benchmark for American soccer players competing in the Ekstraklasa this season.
