All four USMNT regulars saw the field over the weekend in Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson, Chris Richards, and Antonee Robinson. Three started, Aaronson came off the bench, and, somehow, zero wins between them.
AFC Bournemouth 0 – 1 Liverpool
Tyler Adams started in midfield as Bournemouth’s wait for a first Premier League win continued in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool. The Cherries kept Liverpool off the board through the first half, but Alexander Isak broke the deadlock in the 57th minute for the only goal of the match.
Adams went 88 minutes before making way for Ben Gannon-Doak. Bournemouth head into the international break winless through five league matches and sit in 17th place. Next up is a trip to Chelsea on October 10.
Leeds United 0 – 0 Crystal Palace
Chris Richards started for Crystal Palace while Brenden Aaronson began on the bench as Palace and Leeds played to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road. Tyrick Mitchell thought he had put Palace ahead in the 52nd minute, but VAR ruled the goal out for offside in the build-up.
Aaronson came on for Ao Tanaka in the 67th minute, while Richards went the full 90 as Palace kept Leeds off the board. Leeds remain unbeaten through five league matches and head into the international break in fifth place in the Premier League. They travel to Arsenal on October 10, while Palace (15th place) host Nottingham Forest the following day.
Fulham 1 – 1 Manchester United
Antonee Robinson started at left back as Fulham came within minutes of their first Premier League win of the season in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. A bizarre Lisandro Martínez own goal put Fulham ahead in the 63rd minute, as Calvin Bassey’s shot was parried by Senne Lammens before Martínez bundled the rebound back past his own goalkeeper.
It wasn’t to be for Fulham, as Matheus Cunha’s deflected effort found the net in the 89th minute. Robinson went the full 90 for the home side. Fulham have now picked up points in back-to-back league matches but remain 19th in the Premier League. They travel to Ipswich Town on October 10.
Notes
Haji Wright remained out of the Coventry City squad as the Sky Blues finally got off the mark, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 for their first Premier League win since 2001. Jay Dasilva scored Coventry’s first league goal of the season in the 55th minute. Wright continues to recover from the quad injury that has kept him out since August. Coventry host Newcastle United on October 12.
Gabriel Slonina did not make Chelsea’s game-day roster in Friday’s 3-0 loss at Brentford.
Zavier Gozo was not on the game-day roster in Crystal Palace’s 0-0 tie at Leeds.
