Ricardo Pepi scored the game-winner for PSV, with help from Sergino Dest, in the Eredivisie, while Auston Trusty got on the scoresheet to help Celtic advance to the quarterfinals of the Scottish League Cup.

Netherlands

PSV overcame last week’s disappointing tie to take all three points in their 2-1 win over Excelsior at Stadion Woudestein.

Ricardo Pepi played 84 minutes, taking five shots. Sergino Dest, who made his return to the starting eleven after serving his yellow-card suspension, played 89 minutes, completing 93 percent passing, winning 11 duels, making seven recoveries, and taking two shots.

The visitors opened the scoring five minutes into the contest, but Excelsior tied it up in the 54th minute.

PSV restored its lead two minutes later when Dest’s cross from the right side found Pepi on the edge of the six-yard box to one-time his shot into the back of the net.

The Farmers have a home game against Groningen on Sunday.

Elsewhere in the Eredivisie, Kevin Paredes came off the bench to play 35 minutes for Utrecht as they were thrashed in a 4-1 defeat to AZ Alkmaar.

Scotland

Celtic booked its spot in the quarterfinals of the Scottish League Cup as it came away with a comfortable 4-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice Park.

Auston Trusty played 67 minutes, while Cameron Carter-Vickers went the entire game for the Hoops.

Trusty opened the scoring for his team in the 22nd minute when his header from a corner kick beat the goalkeeper on the right side of his goal. Camilo Duran doubled their lead two minutes later.

Celtic added two more goals in the second half to ensure their passage to the next stage.

The Glasgow side will head to Ibrox Stadium in the last eight as it will take on Rangers.

Croatia

Rokas Pukstas continued his excellent form for Hajduk Split as he provided an assist in their 2-1 win over Gorica at Gradski stadion Velika Gorica.

Rokas went the distance for the team, completing 80 percent passing, winning nine duels, and taking five shots.

Hajduk opened the scoring just three minutes in when the American midfielder crossed the ball from the right to allow his teammate Michele Sego to head it home.

The hosts scored the equalizer in the 78th minute from the penalty spot, but Marko Livaja scored the game-winner for Hajduk in the 87th minute.

The team will continue with Europa Conference League qualification, with the first leg tie against Poland’s Rakow on Thursday.

Austria

Samuel Adeniran scored a pair of goals as Bundesliga champions LASK recorded a 4-1 win over Ried at the Raiffeisen Arena.

The forward started and played 55 minutes before going out injured, taking two shots and winning two duels. George Bello played the entire game, completing 84 percent passing, winning four duels, and making two recoveries.

The hosts were behind after eight minutes of play, but tied it up two minutes later when Adeniran’s teammate Moses Usor played the ball to him near the edge of the 18-yard box to allow him to dribble in and put his shot to the left of the goalkeeper.

LASK doubled their lead in the 18th minute, and Adeniran added his second goal of the game nine minutes later. A lobbed pass from Melayro Bogarde to the forward saw him put his curling shot into the back of the net.

The champions scored their fourth goal in the 57th minute to complete the rout.

Adeniran and Bello will head into Champions League qualifying on Wednesday when LASK face Celtic in the first leg at Celtic Park.

Elsewhere, Donovan Pines and Grazer AK had a weekend to forget as they suffered an 8-0 loss to Rapid Vienna.
