2 minutes, 16 seconds Read

Christian Pulisic and AC Milan saw their chance of securing a spot in the Champions League come up in smoke in a loss to Cagliari, while Weston McKennie and Juventus shared the points with Torino in the Derby della Mole.

Milan 1-2 Cagliari

Milan had a lot to play for but blew their chance to qualify for Europe’s top club competition, falling to Cagliari at the San Siro.

Christian Pulisic played the second half for the Rossoneri, completing 83 percent passing, making two recoveries, and taking three shots.

The hosts opened the scoring just two minutes into the contest when Alexis Saelemaekers ran onto a flick-on from Santiago Gimenez to slot the ball home. However, Cagliari tied it up through Gennaro Borreli when he pounced on the loose ball to put it in the back of the net after his teammate Yerry Mina’s header from a corner kick.

The Sardinian side took the lead in the 57th minute when Juan Rodriguez got in front of his marker to head the ball into the goal.

A disappointing result that leaves Milan finishing the season in fifth place in the standings with 70 points, and a spot in next season’s Europa League.

Torino 2-2 Juventus

Juventus blew its chance of making the top four as it surrendered its lead to settle for a point against Torino in a tense derby.

Weston McKennie started for the Bianconeri, completing 88 percent passing, winning a duel, and making a tackle.

The visitors broke the scoreless deadlock after 24 minutes when Dusan Vlahovic collected a pass from Khephren Thuram to get his shot past a swarm of Torino players surrounding him.

The Serb doubled Juventus’ lead in the 54th minute when Francisco Conceicao played the ball to him on a counterattack, allowing the striker to steer it home.

However, the hosts cut the deficit six minutes later when Cesare Casadei headed in Rafael Obrador’s corner kick. Che Adams came off the bench and provided the heroics for Torino when his deflected shot leveled the score in the 84th minute.

Juventus wraps up its season in sixth place with 69 points and heads to the Europa League.

Giorgio De Marzi was on the bench as Roma booked its place in the Champions League following a 2-0 win over Verona. The capital side sits in third place with 73 points.

Benjamin Cremaschi wrapped up his loan with Parma as a knee injury kept him out of its 1-0 win over Sassuolo. The Gialloblu ends up in 13th place with 45 points.
