Griffin Yow has attracted the attention of a few clubs in Europe after his breakthrough sophomore season with KVC Westerlo of the Belgian Pro League, where he scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances.
Having signed on with the Flemish team in 2022, joining American defender Bryan Reynolds, the 21-year-old initially played very few minutes as he came off the bench late in only five games that first season.
Belgian media has reported that 34-time Belgian champions Anderlecht, have been showing interest in the winger who is said to be worth four million Euros ($4.3 million). The reigning Belgian champions, Club Brugge, who will also be taking part in the Champions League this season, have also contacted Westerlo.
Outside of Belgium, Dutch side, Feyenoord, who finished their Eredivisie season just behind run-away champions PSV Eindhoven, have also thrown their hat into the arena.
Yow, who came through the DC United youth academy and played 32 times for their senior team, is currently on international duty in France where he is part of the American Olympic team.
The Virginian impressed in two appearances, coming off the bench against France in the opening game and then against New Zealand, where he assisted Paxten Aaronson‘s goal a minute after coming onto the field.
The winger has done enough in his two appearances to warrant a call up into Marko Mitrovic‘s starting XI but it’s up to the Serbian coach to make that call. The USA will close out the group stages, and hopefully advance, against a Guinea side that has lost both group games.
