Sergino Dest scored the game’s only goal as PSV took one step closer to clinching the Eredivisie with their win over Go Ahead Eagles.
Go Ahead Eagles 0-1 PSV
The runaway league leaders gave themselves a boost ahead of their upcoming Champions League second-leg encounter with Borussia Dortmund as Sergino Dest scored early in the first half as PSV held on for the win at De Adelaarshorst.
Both Dest and Malik Tillman started for the Farmers, with the former going the distance as he completed 97 percent of his passes, won eight duels, made two tackles, and put three shots on target. Meanwhile, Tillman played 66 minutes, completing 95 percent of his passes, winning two duels, making a tackle, and putting three shots on target. Ricardo Pepi came off the bench to play the final six minutes and change.
The visitors struck after 10 minutes when Olivier Boscagli sent the ball over the top to Dest on the left side. The left-back then dribbled the ball in the 18-yard box unchallenged to unleash a wicked shot into the goal.
PSV was in control of the game and had ample opportunities to add to their tally. Despite going down to 10 men late in the game when Armando Obispo was sent off for a second yellow card, they did enough to hold on for the win.
The team remains comfortably atop the standings with 69 points.
