Folarin Balogun saved the day for Reims as his goal deep in stoppage time helped them to earn a point against 10-man Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG 1-1 Reims
Folarin Balogun‘s dramatic equalizer helped Reims to extend their unbeaten run to 14 games as they left Parc des Princes with a precious point over star-studded Paris Saint-Germain.
The Arsenal loanee went the distance for the Red and Whites, completing 60 percent of his passes and winning a duel while taking four shots.
The visitors were on the attack from the starting whistle as PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was forced to make a few stops, while at the other end, the hosts could only must up a single shot as the first half ended scoreless.
PSG would make changes as the second half started in order to get things going and it paid off six minutes into the restart through Neymar. Lionel Messi’s shot on the edge of the area hit several legs before falling to the Brazilian who chipped his shot over flailing Reims’ goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf.
Things took a turn for the hosts in the 59th minute when Marco Veratti, who entered the game at the half, was shown a red card. The video assistant referee showed that the Italian made a rash tackle on Japanese international Junya Ito.
This gave Reims a chance to level the score and they did in the 96th minute when Kamory Doumbia released Balogun with a through-ball, and the 21-year-old didn’t choke as he rounded Donnarumma to put the ball in the back of the net.
Reims sits in 11th place in the standings with 26 points.
