Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic were in midweek action as Milan suffered its first defeat of the season to Bologna.
Milan 2-4 Bologna
Milan dropped to fifth place in the standings after a second-half crash saw them lose to Bologna at the San Siro.
Yunus Musah played the entire game as he completed 89 percent passing, won two duels, and made six recoveries. Christian Pulisic came off the bench to play 32 minutes, taking only one shot.
With the Milan derby coming at the weekend, a win would have given the Rossoneri some confidence. However, they were behind after eight minutes when Bologna scored.
The hosts bounced back six minutes later to level the score when Alphadjo Cisse struck to pay back for Bologna’s mishandling of the ball in their own end. The Italian doubled their lead in the 27th minute as he knocked in a cross from the right side of the 18-yard box.
Milan became their own worst enemy in the second half as they allowed Bologna to tie the game when they conceded an own goal in the 60th minute. It got even more miserable two minutes later as Samuel Mbangula was on the spot to take possession of a low cross to slot home.
The Belgian completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute when he steered in another cross.
Milan will need to forget this defeat as it is the big game on Saturday when they face heated rivals Inter.
