The American presence in the Premier League could be getting another major addition, with USMNT striker Folarin Balogun closing in on a move to Everton.
Everton have agreed a £40 million fee with Monaco for the 25-year-old forward, according to multiple reports. Balogun is expected to replace Beto, who is closing in on a move to Fiorentina. The Premier League transfer window closes Tuesday, September 1st at 5pm CST.
The move would put one of the USMNT’s top attacking players back in England and add another American to a growing Premier League group that already includes Tyler Adams at Bournemouth, Brenden Aaronson at Leeds United, Chris Richards and Zavier Gozo at Crystal Palace, and Antonee Robinson at Fulham.
Balogun is coming off a strong year for both club and country. He scored 19 goals in all competitions for Monaco last season before scoring three times for the United States at the 2026 World Cup. Over three seasons with Monaco, Balogun has 31 goals and nine assists in 91 appearances.
While this would mark a return to the Premier League, Balogun is no stranger to English soccer. Born in New York and raised in London, he came through Arsenal’s academy before breaking out during a 22-goal loan spell with Reims. Arsenal sold him to Monaco in 2023.
Balogun has since established himself as a key piece of the USMNT, scoring 12 goals in 31 appearances since committing to the United States in 2023.
For American fans, the move adds another reason to keep an eye on the Premier League every weekend. More importantly, Balogun would arrive at Everton with an opportunity to compete for significant minutes at center forward as he enters the heart of his career.
The striker will look to emulate the goal-scoring output of compatriots Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride and Christian Pulisic who have 113 goals between them.
The transfer has not yet been officially announced by Everton, but with a fee reportedly agreed and Balogun interested in the move, the USMNT striker appears to be closing in on his Premier League return.
