Chris Richards and Antonee Robinson went the distance this weekend for their respective clubs, while Tyler Adams came off the bench and Brenden Aaronson got the start as the Americans continued their Premier League campaigns.
Crystal Palace 1 – 4 Manchester City
Chris Richards went the distance, and Zavier Gozo played the final 22 minutes for Crystal Palace as they suffered a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City on Friday night.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 17th minute, heading home an Antoine Semenyo cross to give City the early advantage. Rayan Cherki doubled the lead in the 54th minute, working his way into the box and holding off Richards before finding the back of the net.
Palace got one back just three minutes later when Yeremy Pino’s free kick came off the crossbar and went in off goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the comeback didn’t last long. Cherki restored City’s two-goal advantage in the 59th minute, with his shot taking a slight deflection off Richards on the way through.
Haaland added his second late in the game to seal all three points for City. Palace remain without a point after the first two Premier League games and travel to Fulham next Saturday.
Bournemouth 1 – 1 Everton
Tyler Adams came off the bench in the 69th minute as Bournemouth were denied their first win of the Premier League season by a stoppage-time Everton equalizer.
Everton had the better opportunities early, but Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic kept the home side in the match with some big saves. Bournemouth made them pay just before halftime when Evanilson found Alex Scott, who calmly finished into the far corner to give the Cherries the lead.
Adams replaced Lewis Cook with just over 20 minutes remaining as Bournemouth looked to see out the win, but James Tarkowski reacted first after Bournemouth failed to clear a corner and fired home in stoppage time to rescue a point for Everton.
Bournemouth have one point from their opening two Premier League games and travel to Newcastle next Saturday in the Premier League.
Leeds United 1 – 1 Brentford
Brenden Aaronson got the start and went 45 minutes as Leeds United battled back to earn a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Elland Road.
Brentford controlled much of the opening half and got their reward five minutes before the break. Kevin Schade got on the end of a Keane Lewis-Potter cross and flicked the ball past James Trafford to give the visitors the lead.
Aaronson was replaced by Harry Wilson at halftime as Leeds looked for a way back into the match. The Whites finally found their equalizer in the 79th minute when Lukas Nmecha fired the ball across the six-yard box for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to tap home.
Leeds have four points from their opening two Premier League games and travel to Brighton next Saturday in the Premier League.
Sunderland 1 – 0 Fulham
Antonee Robinson went the distance as Fulham suffered a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Chances were limited for both sides in the opening half, with Fulham’s best opportunity falling to Joshua King, who fired over the bar after getting through on goal.
The game remained scoreless until the 75th minute when Sunderland substitutes Habib Diarra and Wilson Isidor combined. Diarra found space down the right flank and sent a low cross into the box for Isidor, who finished past Bernd Leno to give the Black Cats the lead.
Fulham remain without a point through their opening two Premier League games and host Crystal Palace next Saturday in the Premier League.

Haji Wright remained sidelined as Coventry City fell 1-0 to Hull City. The USMNT forward was not in the matchday squad as he continues to recover from his thigh injury.
