Dutch Recap: Tillman on the Mark Again for PSV

2 minutes, 23 seconds Read

Malik Tillman got in on the goals over the weekend, netting his ninth of the season, while Paxten Aaronsen also tasted victory with Utrecht.

PSV 5 – 0 Almere City

Malik Tillman and Richard Ledezma were both in the starting line-up for PSV when they welcomed Almere City to Philips Stadium. Ledezma went the distance but Tillman came off in the 63rd minute but not before finding the back of the net before half time.

Ismael Saibari got the scoring underway after just five minutes and then later on in the 68th. He also added an assist to his day’s work. Johan Bakayoko doubled the score in the 22nd, followed by Noah Lang’s four minutes later. The goals just kept coming and minutes before the intermission, it was Tillman’s turn.

A goal is a goal, but this was far from a highlight for the goal of the week reel. After an initial shot was knocked away by Nordin Bakker between the Almere posts, it fell to the American and after one touch, he blasted it into the back of the net from close range.

Although the game was already over before the referee blew for half time, Saibari struck his second half way through the second half to round off the scoring.

The Farmers need a lot of luck to win the league again with Ajax nine points ahead with five games left to the season. Up next is a trip to take on fifth place Twente.

Utrecht 3 – 1 Groningen

Paxten Aaronson put in an 86-minute shift as the Cathedral Citizens returned to winning ways putting three past the Pride of the North. Souffian El Karouani got the scoring underway from a set piece. The Moroccan defender put the ball into the top right-hand corner from the middle of the box. Nine minutes later it was 2-0 thanks to Yoann Cathline’s long range strike.

The visitors got themselves back into the game at the half hour mark when Stije Resink nodded it home from six yards out. The game’s final goal also came in the first half when Sébastien Haller scored for only the second time this campaign.

The victory leaves Aaronson’s club in fourth place, well on their way to a European spot next season. Up next will be a visit from top of the league Ajax.

Notes

Zack Booth played 18 minutes off the bench in Excelsoir’s 2-0 win over Top OSS. Sitting in second place in the Eerste Divisie with four games left to the season, automatic promotion to the top flight will be guaranteed if they manage to hold onto that spot. Next up is a clash against Volendam.

Jalen Hawkins played 73 minutes but was unable to contribute with a goal, thereby condemning Emmen to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Roda JC. This ended their four-game winning streak. Next up is the AZ reserves.
