English Recap: Sargent Bags a Goal in Canaries’ Win

Josh Sargent is getting hot at the right time as the USMNT kick off their October international window, while Antonee Robinson and Fulham nearly pulled off a surprise against Man City.

Antonee Robinson saw his Fulham side battle League power house Manchester City in a narrow 3-2 loss away from home. Robinson went the distance in the game as his side now sit in eighth place.

Tyler Adams has yet to feature for Bournemouth this season as he recovers from an injury.

Chris Richards was dropped from the squad while Matt Turner was on the bench for Crystal Palace who lost 1-0 at home to Liverpool. The loss keeps them in 18th place in the Premier League.

Josh Sargent was the leader of the pack in the EFL Championship, but there were some meaningful minutes played by nearly all of the other Americans in the division.

Brenden Aaronson started and went the distance for Leeds United in their 2-2 draw away at first placed Sunderland. The draw keeps Leeds in fifth place in the Championship.

Haji Wright got the start against Sheffield Wednesday and went the distance, but his side Coventry City narrowly lost 2-1 at home. The loss puts them into 20th place.

Lynden Gooch has been dropped from Stoke’s squad and hasn’t featured in four matches.

Aidan Morris was cemented his place in the current starting line up for Middlesbrough, going 89 minutes away to Watford. The squad however lost 2-1, a result dropping them to ninth in the Championship.

Josh Sargent was able to contribute a goal for his second match running in Norwich City’s 4-0 demolition of Hull City. The goal brings Sargent’s tally to four goals on the season to compliment his three assists. The squad has scored 16 goals, meaning Sargent has been involved in almost half of the teams goals this season. Norwich now sit in seventh place in the division, in the thick of the promotion hunt.

Duane Holmes came on for the final 14 minutes in Preston North End’s 0-0 draw against third-placed Burnley. After a 3-0 midweek win, the side has climbed to 19th place in the Premier League.

Ethan Horvath has been dropped to the bench for Cardiff City after conceding 10 goals in the opening four matches. Cardiff have put together a 1-0 win over Millwall and a 1-1 tie against Bristol City since then, but are still rock bottom in the Championship.

Daryl Dike is still out with injury for West Bromwich Albion.

League One saw disappointing returns for most Americans, with Gabriel Slonina having perhaps the most deflating weekend.

Jeremy Kelly bounced back from being a midweek sub to his starting position, but Crawley still fell 1-0 to 5th place Wycombe. The loss see’s them stuck in 21st place in the League One table.

Donovan Pines was on the bench while Gabriel Slonina went the distance in goal for Barnsley away to Huddersfield Town. The side conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes to lose the game 2-0. The loss drops them down to 11th place.

Nick Akoto went the distance at home for Burton Albion who lost 3-1 to Bristol Rovers. His side now sit in 23rd place. 

Charlie Kelman notched an assist in Leyton Orient’s 2-1 loss over fourth placed Lincoln City. His side now sits in 19th place.
