KVC Westerlo’s official website announced that they have signed 18-year-old Julian Placias from North Carolina FC of the United Soccer League Championship.

Born in Rancho Santa Margarita, in Orange County California, the youngster started his career at the Los Angeles Galaxy Academy before moving on the NCFC at the end of last year. He now becomes the team’s first European transfer.

The 6’2″ striker played only 10 games and scored twice, which was enough for Westerlo to decide to bring him to Het Kuipje on a three year deal with an option for a fourth.

The front man becomes the third American on the Westerlo books as he joins Griffin Yow, who is currently with the United States Olympic team in France and Bryan Reynolds. The youngster will be wearing number 49.
