English Premier League + FA Cup Recap: Robinson and Wright Dazzle England

Antonee Robinson and Haji Wright kept the fires burning with strong performances heading into the international break, with the latter’s winner over Wolves deep in injury time of their FA Cup matchup likely earning a late USMNT call-up.

Fulham 3 – 0 Tottenham

Antonee Robinson was able to provide an assist in Fulham’s dominating victory over North London Rivals Tottenham, while Tim Ream was on the Cottagers’ bench.

Rodrigo Muniz opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with a sublime delivery from Robinson from a wide area. The frontman took a controlling touch before slotting home to the far post. Sasa Lukic added his first goal for the club in the 49th minute with a clever redirection just after halftime.

Rodrigo hit his double in the 61st minute to seal the deal after a quick reaction to a missed shot. Fulham are now 12th, one point off of Chelsea.

Up next for Fulham is an away game against pitiful Sheffield United following the international break.

Wolves 2 – 3 Coventry 

Haji Wright scored the game-winner at the death to send Coventry through to the FA Cup Semi-Finals.

The away side got the scoring started in the 53rd minute after a free kick was headed back across the face of the goal for Ellis Simms to bundle home. Rayan Ait Nouri leveled the score in the 83rd minute after being the first to react to a bad bounce.

Hugo Bueno thought he had scored the game-winner with just two minutes to go, assisted by Ait Nouri on a delightful through ball. The substitute stayed cool under pressure, slotting the could have been game-winner home.

Coventry got a second surge of life in added time, scoring the equalizer in the seventh minute of added time. Wright delivered from wide, and a flicked header found Simms at the back post for a tap-in.

With the game on the line, cue Haji Wright, who opened his hips to bend a shot into the back post. The goal sent the away fans into a fervor with the winner in the 10th minute of added time. 

Coventry now face the daunting task of taking down Manchester United in late April’s semifinal.

Notes:
Tyler Adams played the final 20 minutes for Bournemouth in their epic comeback win over Luton Town to complete his return from injury.

Luca Koleosho is sidelined with an injury for Burnley.

Matt Turner and Gio Reyna were on the bench for Nottingham Forest who drew 1-1 with Luton.

Auston Trusty’s Sheffield United did not play this weekend. Chris Richards also had the weekend off.
