Cameron Carter-Vickers showed he is ready for Celtic’s midweek Champions League game against Atletico Madrid as he went the distance in their win over Hearts.
Hearts 1-4 Celtic
The defending Scottish Premiership champions were relentless as they eased passed Hearts to maintain their seven-point lead atop the standings with a win at Tynecastle Park.
Cameron Carter-Vickers made his second start for the Hoops since returning from injury and had a solid outing as he completed 84 percent of his passes, won 13 duels, and made two tackles during his 90 minutes on the field.
The visitors opened the scoring after four minutes when Luis Palma played the ball over the top of the Hearts backline to Matthew O’Riley whose volleyed effort beat goalkeeper Alexander Clark. They doubled their lead nearly 20 minutes later Daizen Maeda was on the end of a low cross from Reo Hatate to steer home from close range.
Entering the second half, Celtic continued to dominate as they scored a third in the 51st minute. Their Japanese ace Kyogo Furuhashi was left wide open in the middle of the 18-yard box to slam home the loose ball.
Hearts pulled one back in the 64th minute through Lawrence Shankland, but the visitors restored their three-goal lead in the 81st minute when Tomoki Iwata put in a blistering shot that hit the underside of the crossbar before going over the line.
Celtic now have 25 points from nine games this season.

Dante Polvara came off the bench to play 34 minutes for Aberdeen as their game with St. Johnstone ended in a 0-0 draw.
