Gio Reyna came off the bench for Borussia Dortmund and proved to be a key player for them as they sealed a win over Werder Bremen.
Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Werder Bremen
Borussia Dortmund kept their unbeaten record this season intact as a goal from Julian Brandt helped them to the win over Werder Bremen at Signal Iduna Park.
Gio Reyna came off the bench for BVB and had a resounding impact on the game as he played 28 minutes, completing 96 percent of his passes, winning four duels, and making two key passes along with one shot.
The hosts looked very good in the first half as they pressured their opponent’s goal. However, the end result would let them down. Marco Reus had the best chance to score just after the half-hour mark, but his shot missed by mere millimeters.
It was much of the same in the second half as BVB played well but could not find the goals.
When it looked like Dortmund was headed towards a frustrating goalless draw, they found a way to finally get on the scoreboard in the 67th minute. Emre Can’s through ball found Brandt wide open in the 18-yard box to put away with ease.
That goal would be enough as the hosts collected all three points.
Dortmund was momentarily in first place, but results elsewhere have no left them in fourth place in the standings with 20 points.
