Hajduk Split’s Rokas Pukstas will be sidelined for an undisclosed period of time as an announcement from the club has said he suffered a knee injury.
According to Hajduk, the 18-year-old suffered the injury in their 1-0 victory over Rijeka last month.
“Pukstas suffered a knee injury due to an awkward movement during a duel in the match with Rijeka at Poljud,” Hajduk said in a statement (German). “Despite the pain, he played the game to the end, and during the past few days, diagnostics and prescribed therapy were performed, which will keep the player out of action in the coming weeks. During the aforementioned process, the club’s medical service will closely monitor the response to the therapy and take further steps accordingly.”
The 18-year-old midfielder started the Croatian First League season on fire as he scored back-to-back game-winning goals to give his side maximum points after two games. The first came in their 2-1 win over eternal rivals Dinamo Zagreb.
Pukstas will miss out on Hajduk’s first leg Europa Conference League qualifier against Greece’s PAOK Thessaloniki on Thursday followed by a league game on Sunday against Slaven Koprivnica.
