Giovanni Reyna and Yunus Musah have taken the next step in the process of determining this year’s Golden Boy award winner as they were named among the 60 remaining nominees for the prestigious honor.

The award, which has been established by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, involves young players who have stood out for club and country within the past calendar year. Players must be younger than 21 years of age and have played in Europe in the past season.

Musah, 19, continued to work his way into becoming an important player for Valencia last season as he played in 36 games in all competitions while bagging three goals. In addition, he played a big role in helping the United States qualify for this year’s World Cup as he made 10 appearances for the team.

While last season may have been one of bad luck for Reyna due to injury, he did make 13 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Along the way, he did make history as at the time he became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to play 50 games. The 19-year-old has yet to make an appearance for BVB this season, but he will hope his injury troubles are behind him as he makes one last push to earn spot with the national team for the World Cup.

The prestigious Golden Boy award has a long list of well-known winners in the soccer world from the likes of Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and Kylian Mbappe.
