Turkish Recap: Haji Wright Scores as Antalyaspor Seals Win

1 minute, 2 seconds Read

Haji Wright scored his first goal of the Turkish Super Lig season and it proved to be the game-winner as Antalyaspor claimed all three points in their victory over Umraniyespor.

Umraniyespor 0-1 Antalyaspor

Haji Wright’s goal would be enough for Antalyaspor as they labored to a shutout win over newly-promoted Umraniyespor at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

Wright put in a good outing for the team as he completed 80 percent and won two duels alongside three shots.

The first half remained scoreless as both sides pushed for goals. However, the visitors would grab the lead in the 59th minute through the American striker as he headed in a cross from Bunyamin Balci.

The win marked the Scorpions’ first of the young season and moved them up to ninth place in the standings.

Antalyaspor will be looking to send a shock throughout the league as they play host to last seasons’s champions Trabzonspor next weekend.

Notes

In other Super Lig action, Tyler Boyd played his first game of the season for Besiktas as he played the entire second half in their thrilling 3-3 draw with Alanyaspor.

Gboly Ariyibi played the final 24 minutes for Ankaragucu, but could not provide the necessary impact as they fell to Gaziantep FK in a 1-0 defeat.
