Scottish Recap: CCV anchors Celtic to another shutout win

1 minute, 18 seconds Read

Cameron Carter-Vickers put in a strong performance for Celtic as they earned their third consecutive clean sheet with a hard-fought victory over Motherwell.

Celtic 1-0 Motherwell

Tom Rogic’s stoppage-time goal in the first half was all Celtic needed to claim all three points in their win over Motherwell at Celtic Park.

Cameron Carter-Vickers had a very good performance for the Hoops in central defense, completing 81 percent of his passes and winning 11 aerial battles in a game that tested their attacking prowess with several key players out due to various injuries.

The hosts tried to gel in their 4-3-3 formation, but Motherwell’s Callum Slattery nearly gave them a shock when his shot from just outside the area hit the crossbar.

Celtic was able to withstand the pressure from their opponents and finally got on the scoreboard in the third minute of first-half stoppage time when Rogic was left unmarked at the top of the area to steer David Turnbull’s free-kick into the back of the net.

The hosts pushed for more goals in the second but they would not come. Fortunately, Carter-Vickers and Celtic’s backline was able to keep things on lock

Celtic remains in second place in the standings with 38 points, still four behind the leaders, Rangers.
