English Midweek Recap: Fulham bounce back

Fulham bounced back from first loss of the season over the weekend with a dominating display over Birmingham City.

Birmingham City 1 – 4 Fulham

Tim Ream captained Fulham to an impressive win on the road, while Antonee Robinson was rested as an unused substitute. Fulham lost over the weekend, so a bounce back win was needed as Fulham continue on their quest to get promoted back into the Premier League.

Denis Odoi got scoring started in the 10th minute, and the Cottagers never looked back. Goal scoring machine Aleksandar Mitrovic added two himself to take his tallyto six goals in seven games with his first coming just before half time through a penalty kick. Harry Wilson scored the third goal in the 54th minute, while Mitrovic notched his second goal of the night in the 83rd minute. Birmingham got one back int he 87th through Troy Deeney’s penalty kick, but it was too little too late.

Up next for Ream and Robinson’s Fulham is a home game Saturday against Reading in Championship action.

Notes

Duane Holmes watched from the bench as Huddersfield Town downed Blackpool 3-0 on the road. Up next is a Saturday game against Ethan Horvath’s Nottingham Forest.

Matthew Olosunde did not feature for Preston North End in their 2-2 draw to Sheffield United. Next up is a Saturday home game against West Brom.

Ethan Horvath was the backup keeper for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 home loss to Cardiff City.
