Cologne 2-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Cologne claimed the bragging rights in the Rhine derby as a game-winner in the second half allowed them to secure the points over Borussia Monchegladbach at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Joe Scally played the full 90 minutes for the Foals as he made a key pass, won seven duels, and took two shots for the team that is still looking to claim its first points of the season.

The visitors found themselves in a hole in the 26th minute when a poor clearance gave Isak Johannesson the chance to volley a shot into the back of the net. Scally levelled the score in the 39th minute when he was left unmarked to head in a cross from Lukas Ullrich.

The hosts scored the decisive goal in the 67th minute when Said El Mala curled in a right-footed shot well beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.

Gladbach’s quest for its first points will continue on Saturday against Hoffenheim.
