American midfielder Devon De Corte has completed a permanent move from Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht to Dutch Eerste Divisie club FC Den Bosch, according to the club’s website. He signed a three-year contract as he looks to establish himself in senior football.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder joined the prestigious Anderlecht Academy during the 2023/24 season from the Philadelphia Union Academy, as he headed to the country of his father’s birth. De Corte made 58 appearances for the team’s reserves, RSCA Futures, who compete in the Challenger Pro League, the country’s second division. He found the back of the net on seven occasions as he gained valuable experience.
Holding dual citizenship, the Pennsylvania native first represented Belgium at the U-18 and U-19 levels before switching his allegiance to the country of his birth and represented the USA at U-20 level last year.
The American stated that he felt that this was the right move for him at this point in his career, as the club’s vision fits perfectly with the way that he sees the game.
De Corte is one of a growing number of young Americans who have chosen to develop their craft in Europe, where more opportunities and better coaching exists.
FC Den Bosch, who finished in ninth place in the league last season, will get their 2026/27 campaign underway on August 8th when they welcome Almere City to De Vliert.
