Weston McKennie scored a goal to help Juventus to a point against Lazio, while Gianluca Busio continued their charge to promotion from Serie B with a win over Frosinone.
Juventus 2-2 Lazio
Juventus scored a dramatic stoppage-time goal to secure a point against Lazio at Allianz Stadium after coming back from a two-goal deficit.
Weston McKennie started and played 84 minutes for I Bianconeri, completing 85 percent passing, winning four duels, making two recoveries, and taking five shots.
The hosts appeared to have opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Teun Koopmeiners struck from outside the area, but it was disallowed by the referee due to an offside.
Lazio then broke the scoreless deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Daniel Maldini played the ball out to the left side to allow Pedro put his deflected shot into the back of the net.
Gustav Isaksen doubled the visitors’ lead just minutes into the second half when he ran onto a long ball from Danilo Cataldi and fired his shot past Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.
Juventus fought back and cut the deficit in the 59th minute through the American midfielder. After two blocked attempts, the ball ended up with Andrea Cambiaso on the left side of the area. His centered pass found McKennie, as he headed into the goal.
The Turin side was denied a few chances for the equalizer, but they were fortunate to grab it six minutes into stoppage time when Pierre Kalulu was left unchallenged to head in Jeremie Boga’s cross to give them a point at the end.
Juventus sits in fourth place in the standings with 46 points.
Frosinone 1-2 Venezia
Venezia continued their push for promotion as it was able to hold on for a narrow win over Frosinone at Stadio Benito Stirpe.
Gianluca Busio started and went the distance for the Winged Lions, completing 78 percent passing, winning two duels and a tackle, and making five recoveries.
The visitors found themselves behind when Frosinone scored in the 43rd minute. Giorgi Kvernadze was able to meet with a over-the-top pass in the area, which allowed him to cross it to the left for Antonio Raimondo to hit it into the roof of the goal.
Venezia was gifted the equalizer in the 63rd minute thanks to an own goal from Giorgio Cittadini. Richie Sagrado’s challenge in the 18-yard box for a through ball forced the Italian defender to make the error.
Momentum shifted for league leaders as they grabbed the game-winner in the 77th minute. Michael Svoboda pass into the area met Issa Doumbia to slot it home.
Venezia maintains its hold at the top of the Serie B standings with 50 points.
