English Premier League Recap: Aaronson v Robinson at Elland Road

2 minutes, 6 seconds Read

Brenden Aaronson and Antonee Robinson went head to head as right winger met left back in a Premier League fixture. Chris Richards was also on the pitch for the end of a bad week for Crystal Palace.

Leeds 1 – 0 Fulham

Brendan Aaronson and Leeds made it unbeaten in five home matches as the home side got a goal at the death. Antonee Robinson and Fulham were on an equally as impressive record as well, but that spell was broken after this defeat.

Both Americans started and played the full match, with Aaronson being subbed out in the fourth minute of stoppage time to milk the clock. The Leeds man did have an epic chance in the 23rd minute, but his shot was skied over the cross bar. He nearly turned provider before the 60th minute after a great dribble down the flank, but the finish wasn’t there from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Fulham can’t have been surprised when Lukas Nmecha scored the game winner in the 1st minute of added time to seal the late victory. It was all Leeds for most of the second half. The goal sent the home fans into an uproar after a clever finish at the back post.

Sunderland 2 – 1 Crystal Palace

Chris Richards started and went the distance for Crystal Palace who lost away from home to Sunderland.

It’s been a bad week for Palace fans, having been dumped out of the FA Cup by Macclesfield, club captain Marc Guihi was sold to Manchester City, and head coach Oliver Galsner announcing he was to resign at the end of the season.

Compounded by an away loss to Sunderland makes it a 10 game streak without a win. Starting December with back to back Premier League victories as well as an away win in the Conference League, they haven’t won since December 11th.

Yermey Pino opened the scoring for the visitors, but an immediate response by Enzo Le Fee. Richards was the closest to it as he was double teamed, but Le Fee was first to it. Palace thought they went ahead just before the break, but an offside flag was raised. In the 71th minute a goal by Brian Brobbey punished the away team.

Palace still sit in 13th place, but take on sixth place Chelsea in their next outing.
