There were plenty of goals in the Prem games involving Yanks, 18 to be exact.
Fulham 1 – 3 Liverpool
Antonee Robinson was in the starting line-up when the Cottagers hosted title chasers, Liverpool but Tim Ream remained on the bench as the team could not hold onto the point with the game going into the intermission at a goal each.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, back from injury, announced his return with a 32nd minute goal. But the Cottagers weren’t impressed and Belgian international Timmy Castagne got the team back into it a few minutes into first half extra time.
Ryan Gravenberch didn’t take long to put the Scousers back on top with his first ever Premier League goal since coming over from Bayern Munich. Diogo Jota made sure of things with his 10th of the season in teh 72nd minute.
Twelfth place Fulham will take on 14th place Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Crystal Palace 5 – 2 West Ham United
Chris Richards started and went the full 90 minutes as Palace thumped fellow Londoners, WHU over the weekend. Hammers fans were already heading for the exits just after a half hour had been played with their team already done by four goals. Michael Olise struck in the seventh minute, followed by Eberechi Eze a few minutes later. West Ham got in on the scoring, well, the Brazilian Emerson, to be exact but he beat his own keeper doing so. J-P Mateta score the fourth.
Half time could not come soon enough for both sides as the visitors had to talk about damage control, while the hosts needed a rest from all the goals they’d been scoring. It must have been a half decent team talk by coach David Moyes because his side scored twice but Mateta also added another.
Richards and Palace will celebrate and then get back to work preparing for their next game which will be against Newcastle United.
Everton 2 – 0 Nottingham Forest
Gio Reyna got the nod and started again for struggling Forest, who are just one point safe from relegation. The American however was subbed off just eight minutes after the restart.
Everton, who have been fighting a relegation battle of their own after being deducted points for breaching financial fair play rules, have now put a bit of distance between themselves and Luton Town after the two goal victory. The goals came on either side of the intermission with Idryssa Gueye scoring in the 29th minute and then Dwight McNeil doing the same in the 76th.
Forest will probably be looking two games ahead as they next come up against Manchester City over the weekend and will be playing not to get embarrassed. After that however will be a must-win game against bottom of the league Sheffield United.
Sheffield United 1 – 4 Burnley
Things ended as they have throughout most of the season with United ended the game with no points. Austin Trusty was in the starting line-up but could not held the rot as Sheffield stays rooted to the bottom of the table.
Vincent Kompany’s side took a two-goal first half lead before the Blades struck back seven minutes after the restart, thanks to Gustavo Hamer. But it didn’t last long as the Clarets scored two more unanswered goals.
It’ll be a battle of relegation fodder next up as Sheffield takes on Notts Forest.
