Union Berlin came to an agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach and have sent their American striker Jordan Pefok on loan to Kasey Keller’s former team.
The Washington D.C.-born, nine-time capped U.S. men’s national team player joined Union last year and appeared 32 times for the Berliners, scoring on four occasions.
“Jordan played many games for us and scored important goals,” Union Berlin’s sporting director Oliver Ruhnert told the media. “However, the current situation with many offensive players has led us to agree on a loan.”
“The Iron Ones” have signed David Datro Fofana, the Ivory Coast striker from Chelsea on a season-long loan, as well as former Germany international Kevin Volland from Monaco, meaning that the former Young Boys star would see very little playing time in the German capital. Hopefully, he’ll regain his goal-scoring touch with ‘Gladbach as Gerardo Seoane, his former coach in the Swiss Super League, is currently at the helm.
Pefok will join international teammate Joe Scally, who joined the Foals from NYC FC in 2021, but will most likely miss out when they host Bayern Munich on Friday night.
