Mikey Varas’ Team USA secured their spot in the knockout stage with all nine points, giving them the top spot of Group B.

As one of the top three teams in their group and securing their spot in the knockout round, New Zealand has qualified for the Round of 16, matching up with the US.

New Zealand finished third in Group A with four points, enough to advance to the knockouts as one of the best third-placed teams of the tournament.

Following victories over Guatemala, a 2-2 draw with Uzbekistan, and a loss to the hosts, Argentina, Darren Bazeley’s are prepared to give it their all to the Americans as they hope to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time in their history.

The two nations will meet at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza on Tuesday, May 30th (1:30 pm est).

The winner of this tie will face either Gambia or Uruguay in the last eight.
