In an effort to increase original content and put more of a spotlight on American soccer players across the globe that go under the radar, Yanks Abroad is happy to announce their collaboration with Footwork.
Since 2004, Yanks Abroad has worked tirelessly to keep American soccer fans informed on the happenings of players plying their trade in some of the top leagues in Europe and other locales. We have also provided coverage of the U.S. national team at various levels as they try to gain a foothold on the world stage.
We are dedicated to ramping up the content as the sport continues to grow across the United States and more players head around the world in order to play the sport they are so passionate about. That is why we are ecstatic about this partnership with Footwork as it has been created by two current players, Dylan Williams and Sean Vinberg, who have long had the dream of playing professionally overseas.
We look forward to having a long collaboration as they will provide not only their own stories, but those of fellow Americans just looking to make a name for themselves in the sport.
Footwork is the brainchild of Dylan and Sean, both New York natives, who have been playing in Germany’s fourth tier for the past few years. The SUNY Oneonta graduates have had extraordinary journeys in their professional lives.
Sean, 29, started his career in the Mongolian Premier League with Khoromkhon FC in 2017. Following a season in the landlocked Asian country, the center-back would make the move to Germany where he currently plays for Phonix Lubeck.
Dylan, 28, saw his career start in Australia before heading to Sweden for a couple of years. Now, the midfielder has called Germany home for the past few years as he currently suits up for Eintracht Norderstedt.
Both expressed their excitement to team up with Yanks Abroad in this venture.
“We are delighted to collaborate with a name like YanksAbroad. We remember reading articles on some of our favorite players like Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Oguchi Onyewu, planting the seed in our heads of one day playing professionally abroad,” the duo said in a statement. “Mike, Dave, Andrew, and Kenya have done an amazing job telling the stories of American players and keeping us updated and engaged in their journeys. As we expand our brand and podcast, we thought there would be no better partner in helping us tell the stories of players around the world. Especially since we are just Yanks abroad ourselves.”
Stay tuned as Yanks Abroad and Footwork will soon publish the first story in what will hopefully be many down the road.
