Saint Louis native Tim Ream will be a Premier League player next season as Fulham announced the extension of his contract, following their successful promotion campaign.
The American has started in every Championship game this season and while his initial contract was set to expire in June, the club have opted to trigger the extension clause, guarantee’s Ream will be a Premier League player next season.
Fulham went on a historic run in the Championship, being crowned Champions with 90 points in 46 games played. This in part was due to Aleksander Mitrovic’s incredible 43 goal season (14 more than any other player, and more than Hull and Barnsley scored at all).
However, Ream, captain and center back, helped his defense concede less than 1 goal per game, and only two teams in the division had a better statistic. That number could have been better had they not conceded four in their final outing of the season.
The 34 year old played over 4,000 minutes in the Championship this season, his eighth season for Fulham.
“To be able to do that in this squad especially, super proud moment for me,” Ream told Fulham FC TV.
“That just comes from the work behind the scenes and taking care of yourself, and a product of the team doing well as a whole and getting results.
It’s a pretty impressive achievement to say the least, but my aim at the beginning of the season was to play in every game. To achieve that is pretty pleasing.”
