3 minutes, 15 seconds Read

Josh Sargent notched an assist against Liverpool for Norwich in a losing effort, while Christian Pulisic was a late sub in Chelsea’s narrow win.

Luton Town 2 – 3 Chelsea

Christian Pulisic played the final 30 minutes for Chelsea in their nervy comeback win over Luton Town in the FA Cup Fifth Round.

The Championship side got the goal scoring started straight from the opening whistle, with Reece Burke rising to glance home his header just 90 seconds into the game.

Chelsea however were able to peg one back in the 27th minute after a poor Luton turnover created a counter attack. Mason Mount played Timo Werner, and Saul Niguez was able to steer a shot home from the edge of the box.

Harry Cornick was able to get Luton in to the lead once more with a cool finish in the 40th minute, after weathering a Chelsea onslaught. The home side played several fantastic link-up passes to release Cornick beyond the Chelsea backline, and the finish was cool and calm past Kepa.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was able to brilliantly pick out the run of Werner in the 68th minute, with the German showing composure to slot home for the equalizer.

The goal scorer turned provider just ten minutes later to set up Romelu Lukaku for a tap-in from six yards out for the 78th-minute game winner.

Chelsea will find out who their next opponent is after the FA Cup Quarter Final draw on Thursday. Their next game, however, is a trip to Burnley in the Premier League.

Liverpool 2 – 1 Norwich

Josh Sargent came on after half time to play out the final 45 minutes, but his assist on their lone goal wasn’t enough as Norwich were knocked out of the FA Cup.

The scoring was kicked off in the 27th minute through Takumi Minamino after a patient build up from Liverpool, Norwich perhaps being too passive in their pressing. Origi was found inside the box with his back to goal, and a simple square pass was all it took to allow the goalscorer his chance to put Liverpool in the lead.

The Japanese international scored the eventual game winner in the 39th minute after being allowed the time and space to volley home his shot after a deflected Liverpool corner kick.

Sargent immediately made an impact after entering the game, registering his first shot just 45 seconds in to his time on the field, however the attempt drifted just wide of the Liverpool goal.

The American was directly involved in the Norwich goal that kept the game close; having created space for the run of Lukas Rupp and finding him with a clever pass, Rupp thumped home Norwich’s only goal on the night.

Norwich may be out of the FA Cup, but their attention turns to a must win game against Brentford on Saturday.

Folarin Balogun was a 75th-minute substitute as Middlesbrough knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup in extra time.

The game was locked at zeroes through 90 minutes, with either team having multiple chances to put the game to bed during regular time. Inside the first 90 seconds of extra time, Balogun was able to direct a header on target, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Tottenham goalkeeper.

It took 19 year old substitute Josh Coburn to produce the bit of magic that would separate the two sides, getting the ball just behind the back line before rifling home the game winner in the 107th minute.

All eyes will be on the Thursday Quarter Final Draw, but their immediate attention turns to Luton in the Championship on Saturday.
