1 minute, 24 seconds Read

Jordan Pefok bagged his league-leading 14th goal of the season while adding an assist as he helped Young Boys to a comeback win over Basel.

Young Boys 3-1 Basel

Young Boys clawed their way back from an early deficit to secure all three points in their win over Basel at Stadion Wankdorf to move up to second place in the standings.

Jordan Pefok went the distance for the defending champions, completing 68 percent of his passes and winning seven duels, along with putting two shots on target and registering an assist.

The visitors opened the scoring after 22 minutes when Michael Lang rose up to head in a corner kick from Matias Palacios.

The hosts then went on the charge to level the score. Pefok came close in the 36th minute with a header that was similar to one of his goals the previous weekend. However, it went just wide of the target.

Young Boys would score the equalizer seconds later when Vincent Sierro struck from long range.

That goal only kept the momentum going for the team in the second half. They had to thank the referee in the 60th minute as he sent off Basel center-back Wouter Burger for a second yellow card. They took advantage of the man advantage in the 69th minute when Pefok set up Moumi Ngamaleu to give them the lead.

Pefok made sure Young Boys kept the lead for good with his 14th league goal in the 72nd minute. Fabian Reder mishit his attempt, but the ball would find its way towards the American striker to put away his shot.

Young Boys sit 10 points behind league leaders FC Zurich with 39 points.
