It appears that German Bundesliga side FC Augsburg has joined the Ricardo Pepi sweepstakes as it has been reported that they are close to a $20 million transfer for the striker.
According to a report, the deal is near completion.
It was earlier reported that Pepi was on the verge of signing with fellow Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. However, it appears the Bavarian club, which no one had in mind, will come in to swoop the 18-year-old from FC Dallas.
The Texan has impressed over the past year as he scored 13 goals for Dallas during the 2021 Major League Soccer season, earning him the Young Player of the Year award.
On the international stage, he made his presence known in the United States World Cup qualifiers with a hat-trick against Honduras in a 4-1.
Pepi’s displays on the field have spurred interest from clubs such as Bayern Munich, Ajax, and several others in recent months.
