Former Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko is looking to make an impact at Italian Seria A side Genoa, and he has targeted Christian Pulisic to bolster his squad.

The 45-year-old, who was appointed as head coach of Genoa on Sunday, knows he has a mountain to climb to get his team out of the relegation zone as they currently lie in 18th place. Therefore, he has set his targets high when the January transfer window opens as he looks for reinforcements.

According to a report, Shevchenko has his eye on Pulisic as he would fit in perfectly to his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

Pulisic, 23, had a good start at Chelsea following his transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. However, he has incurred several injuries which has seen him go in and out of the lineup over the past few months.

So far this season he has started only once as he scored a goal in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace back in August. He made his return to the team last Wednesday as he came off the bench in their Champions League against Malmo. He made another appearance from the bench over the weekend in the team’s 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The American midfielder currently finds himself behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Mason Mount for playing time.

The report also added that Chelsea could be interested in sending Pulisic to Italy on loan provided that he is guaranteed playing time.

With Shevchenko having played for the Blues previously, there could be a chance a deal is done in January if the report is confirmed.
