Josh Sargent started again in Norwich City’s first point of the season, but Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson were center stage for Fulham’s thrashing this weekend.
Burnley 0 – 0 Norwich City
Norwich City forward Josh Sargent started and went most of the way, subbing out in the 90th minute in their goalless draw away to Burnley.
The draw earned Norwich their first point of the season after seven games, but definitely left the game with a bitter taste in their mouth as referee Mike Dean denied Matej Vydra three times for potential penalties.
Sargent was lively and engaged, but really only had one chance that was blocked in the 81st minute, nine minutes before coming off.
Sargent will not feature for the USMNT over the international break, so a home game against Brighton is up next on the 16th.
Coventry 4 – 1 Fulham
Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson were at the center of Fulham’s big away loss at Coventry.
The loss sees Fulham’s roller coaster season continue, which started with three straight wins before they started dropping points at home and away. The defeat sees them fifth place with only two wins in their last six games.
The contest was Fulham’s in the first half after a Kyle McFadzean own goal from a corner kick.
The second half was a totally different contest however. Just two minutes in to the half, Ream and Josh Onomah couldn’t figure out how to work together, and the ball fell to Viktor Gyokeres to slot home the equalizer.
It was all downhill from there, with Robinson giving up a soft penalty that Matt Godden cooly slotted home in the 51st minute. Ian Maatsen added a third in the 61st, while Gyokeres rounded off the scoring with his second on the night in the 70th.
Fulham head in to the international break looking to regroup before their next game against Queen’s Park Rangers.
