It wasn’t a fantastic weekend by any means for the Yanks in the EFL, as none of the Americans in action completed a full 90 minutes. Haji Wright was substituted in the 72nd minute in Coventry City’s one-all draw with Norwich, whereas Duane Holmes started on the bench and was brought on after the interval in PNE’s third consecutive loss.
It was an awfully quiet mid-week Sky Bet Championship from a Yank’s perspective, as once again, only two Americans played any minutes. Haji Wright finally ended his goal drought, while Duane Holmes and PNE suffered another massive defeat.

An exhilarating 4-4 draw between Southampton and Norwich City showcased an impressive performance by Josh Sargent, who not only scored but also contributed with an assist. Elsewhere, Haji Wright opened his Coventry City account, finding the net just four minutes after stepping onto the pitch from the bench.
The journey hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for our compatriots across the pond. Sadly, only one American player saw his team successfully move on to the second round of the EFL Cup.
