English Premier League Midweek Recap: Richards, Palace Scrape by Burnley

A one-nil victory and a one-nil defeat was all that the Yanks in England could muster up during the week with Richards winning and Adams losing.

Bournemouth 0 – 1 Everton

Tyler Adams was in Bournemouth’s starting XI when they welcomed Everton to the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening. The American played the duration in this hotly contested game and picked up a yellow card. The only goal came in the 78th minute from Jack Grealish. The strike from the former Manchester City man gave the Toffees their first ever league win in Bournemouth, while ending the Cherries seven game unbeaten streak at home.

Next up for Bournemouth is a weekend visit from Chelsea but Adams will not take part due to yellow card accumulation.

Burnley 0 – 1 Crystal Palace

It was another one of those thrill of one nil games when Chris Richards and his Eagles travelled to Lancashire to take on the Clarets. Although the Burnley boys dominated in just about every category, they didn’t in goals scored as they were unable to get by the American and his stubborn defenders.

The game’s only goal came a minute before the intermission when Daniel Munoz ran past four defenders and got his head to Marc Guehi’s cross into the box.

Sitting in fifth place, Palace will stay in London this weekend as they head to the Thames River to take on Fulham.

Notes

Having consistently been in the Leeds United starting XI, Brenden Aaronson got to watch the entire game against Chelsea from the bench as his relegation threatened side upset Premier League pretenders Chelsea by a 3-1 score line on Wednesday night. The win takes them out of the bottom three for now and gives them confidence going into the weekend’s clash against another struggling side, Liverpool.

Still out with a knee injury, Antonee Robinson missed the thriller at Craven Cottage where a never-say-die Fulham side, down 5-1, fought back but came up short with the game ending 5-4 on Tuesday night.
