English Recap: Quick Start for Aaronson, Rough Curtain-raiser for Sargent & Norwich

The summer break officially ended for many the Yanks in England, with EFL play getting underway this weekend. Brenden Aaronson led the way for the USMNT representatives, getting a goal in Leeds United’s thrilling tie against Portsmouth.

Brenden Aaronson, was a 72nd-minute substitute for Leeds United, and netted 95th-minute goal to tie the game 3-3 in front of home crowd against Portsmouth.

Lynden Gooch started and went the distance for Stoke City in their 1-0 win over visiting Coventry. Haji Wright was a second-half substitute for the visitors, coming on in the 62nd minute.

Aidan Morris started for Middlesborough and went the distance in their 1-0 home win over Swansea.

Josh Sargent started and went the distance for Norwich City who lost 0-2 on the road to Oxford United to get their season off to a poor start.

Duane Holmes did not feature for Preston North End who lost 0-2 at home to newly relegated side Sheffield United. Likewise, Auston Trusty of Sheffield United did not feature in their first game back in the Championship. 

Daryl Dike and Reggie Cannon did not feature in West Brom’s road win over Queens Park Rangers, with West Brom winning 3-1.

Nick Akoto was recently brought in by League One side Burton Albion and played the final 13 minutes in a 2-3 loss to Lincoln. 

Newly minted League One player Jeremy Kelly got an assist for Crawley who earned promotion to League One, Crawley winning 2-1 over Blackpool.

Donovan Pines and Gabriel Slonina did not start for their new team Barnsley in League One, their team losing 1-2 to Mansfield.
