Ream Signs Fulham Extension

Fulham captain Tim Ream will remain at Craven Cottage through at least the 2023-24 season after signing a one-year extension with the London-based club.

Like a fine bottle of red wine, the 35 year-old central defender Ream has only gotten better with age, seeing both his club and national team careers reach new high-points within the last year.

Shortly after he scored his first-ever Premier League goal in Fulham’s 3-0 Boxing Day win over Crystal Palace, it was announced that he had signed on for another year on a deal that runs through summer 2024.

“The Club is delighted to announce that Tim Ream has agreed a new contract,” the team announced in a press release, elaborating “His new deal ties Ream to Craven Cottage until the summer of 2024.”

After he led the Cottagers to one of the best Championship seasons in history to return to the Premier League, Ream has excelled in the defense in the English top flight to help the team consistently maintain a mid-table standing.

This led to his selection by Gregg Berhalter for the recently completed 2022 World Cup, where he started all four of the Americans’ games, and was widely recognized as one of the team’s most best performers.

“I feel the best I’ve ever felt, as confident as I’ve ever been. To extend it another 12 months into 2024 is a proud moment for myself and my family,” Ream said through the team’s media channel.

“It was an easy decision for me. I obviously have a young family who are very much settled, and I’m very much settled on the pitch, settled in the changing room and, with this group, the sky’s the limit.”

The extension will cover his ninth season in London. Should the team maintain their strong standing and avoid relegation, the 2023-24 term would be his fourth full in the top flight.

The Cottagers will finish the current round of Premier League games in ninth place, and will be hopeful of further improving their position when they host last-place Southampton on New Year’s Eve.
