Cameron Carter-Vickers Makes Permanent Move to Celtic

Cameron Carter-Vickers has now found a permanent home as it was announced on Friday that Scottish Premiership side Celtic agreed to a transfer with the English Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur for the center-back.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-year deal following a successful season-long loan up north for the Glasgow side.

Carter-Vickers started his career at Spurs as an academy player in 2009 and went on to sign his first professional contract in 2015. He would catch the attention of former head coach Mauricio Pochettino and be included in the first team. However, he only made five appearances in cup competitions before the long saga of loans began.

The English-bon defender would spend time at Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton Town and Bournemouth in the English Championship before making his to Scotland to spend the season at Celtic.

The loan to the Hoops proved to be a resounding success as he played in 33 games and scored four goals to help the team reclaim the Scottish Premiership title and the League Cup. His performances throughout the season was rewarded with a spot in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.

Now attached permanently to Celtic, Carter-Vickers expressed his delight at continuing a long-term relationship with the club.

“I am so pleased to complete my move to Celtic and I really could not be happier,” he said following the announcement of his permanent signing. “I have loved every minute of my time at Celtic so far and I really wanted to be part of the club’s future.

“I wanted to make sure I was part of this group going forward and working under a great manager, and now we all want to achieve more.

“We have so much to look forward to, we will aim to be strong again domestically and of course we look ahead with real excitement to the Champions League.

“I have received such a great welcome from everyone at the club from day one and also from our supporters. When you are fortunate enough to be inside Celtic you can see it really is one of the world’s great football clubs.

“I am delighted to be given this opportunity at a club of this stature and I will be doing all I can to play my part in bringing more and more success to our fans.”

Carter-Vickers’ performances have finally been noticed by the coaching staff of the U.S. men’s national team as he was recalled for their friendlies against Morocco and Uruguay as well as the CONCACAF Nations Leagues game against Grenada and El Salvador.
