Turkish Recap: Haji Wright’s Sets Up Goal as Antalyaspor Claim Point

Haji Wright could not grab a goal this time around, but he did set up Antalyaspor’s first-half strike as they settled for a point with Galatasaray in the final game of the Turkish Super Lig season.

Antalyaspor 1-1 Galatasaray

Mustafa Mohamed’s second-half goal would keep Antalyaspor from claiming all three points as both sides settle for a draw at the Antalya Stadium.

Haji Wright was kept off the scoresheet in his 90 minute shift as he completed 63 percent of his passes and won eight duels along with taking three shots.

With neither team having anything to play for, it turned out to be back-and-forth action in the first half as they each sought to gain some advantage. The first goal came just before the halftime whistle when right dribbled the ball into the area from the left side before passing it on to teammate Alassane Ndao to tap in.

However, the Galatasaray players protested that the ball had crossed over the touch line, thus disallowing the goal. A review from the video assistant referee showed that the ball did not cross over the touch line completely and goal stood.

The visitors were on the attack in the second half as they tried to get the equalizer. They did get it in the 77th minute when Mohamed was on the spot to tap in a cross from Karem Akturkoglu.

No more goals came afterward as both seemed content with the draw.

Antalyaspor finish the season in seventh place in the standings with 59 points, while Wright ends his loan with 14 goals.

Note

Gboly Ariyibi collected some silverware as he came on just before halftime to help Ankaragucu to a 2-1 win over Ankara Keciorengucu to finish the season as champions of the 1. Lig.
