Turkish Recap: Haji Wright Scores To Save Point For Antalyaspor

Haji Wright cannot be stopped right now as his goal helped Anatalyaspor to secure a point against Kayserispor to score his seventh in as many games.

Antalyaspor 1-1 Kayserispor

Haji Wright’s goal offset an earlier strike from their opponents as both teams settled for the draw at the Antalya Stadium.

Wright was the top man for his team in his 89-minute shift, winning five duels and putting one shot on target.

The action was end-to-end in the first half as both sides had good opportunities to open the scoring. Wright may have had a case for a penalty in the 17th minute when he was brought down on the edge of the area, but the referee did not make the call.

The game’s intensity did not die down as both came out for the second half. Kayserispor thought they had broken the scoreless deadlock in the 51st minute when Mario Gavranovic put the ball in the back of the net, but it was called back as the Swiss international was offside.

However, they would grab the opener a minute later when Joseph Attamah was on the spot to pounce on the loose ball and bury it home. The visitors again thought they doubled the lead with a goal from Mame Thiam, but he was just offside.

That gave the hosts a chance to grab the leveler and Wright would be the hero in the 56th minute as he took a pass from Guray Vural and fired a shot from distance. Kayserispor goalkeeper Silviu Lung got his fingertips on the ball, but it was too powerful to stop as it hit the back of the net.

Both sides pushed for more goals, but they would not come as they settled for a share of the points in the end.

Antalyaspor moves up to eighth place in the standings with 51 points, six points out from a European place.
