Swiss Recap: Jordan Pefok Scores 2 Goals as Young Boys End Winless Run

Jordan Pefok led the way for Young Boys as he scored a pair of goals to help them to a comfortable win over Servette and finally break their long winless streak.

Young Boys 3-1 Servette

Young Boys finally put in a strong performance after going weeks without a win as they beat Servette at Stadion Wankdorf.

Jordan Pefok was the star man of the game as he played 83 minutes, winning nine duels and putting three shots on target, as he extended his lead atop the goal scorer’s list to 21.

The striker had his first opportunity in the 11th minute when he headed the ball on target. However, it was not much of a threat for Servette goalkeeper Jerome Frick as he dove to his right to snag the ball.

Pefok would not give Frick the chance to stop his next chance a minute later when he headed the ball into the goal following a cross from Ulisses Garcia.

It was a strong first half for the hosts as they had a few good chances to extended their lead. But they had to wait until the 41st minute to grab their second goal on the night as Pefok rose up once again to head the ball into the back of the net, this time Edimilson Fernandes providing the service.

Entering the second half, Pefok had a very good chance to seal a hat-trick in the 64th minute, but he couldn’t get his foot on a blistering cross from Elia Meschack.

Young Boys deserved another goal as they put mounds of pressure on Servette’s goal, and they finally got in the 85th minute. Vincent Sierro headed in a cross from Lewin Blum to ensure they secured all the points.

Dimitri Oberlin scored a consolation goal for Servette in the 90th minute.

Young Boys remains in third place in the standings with 50 points, three points behind second-place Basel.
