Taylor Booth Signs Pre-Contract With FC Utrecht

Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht announced on Sunday the signing of Taylor Booth on a pre-contract from Bayern Munich in a deal that will run until mid-2025.

It was reported earlier that the midfielder was getting interest from the team. Now, it has been confirmed and Utrecht will be bringing him in for the 2022-2023 Eredivisie season.

“Taylor is a huge talent who currently plays for Bayern Munich and has now also been invited to the American national team,” said Utrecht’s technical director Jordy Zuidam. “With him, we bring in a dynamic midfielder with a lot of footballing ability. It’s a box-to-box player that plays with a lot of energy and that makes it really a player that fits into our system. We are proud that we were able to convince him to choose us.”

The 20-year-old joined the Bayern Munich youth academy from Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake in January 2019. He went on to debut for Bayern Munich II in June 2020 as they won the 3. Liga title.

This season, he has spent time training with Bayern’s first team while playing with the reserves in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Bayern. He has so far made 15 appearances this season.

However, with opportunities limited for first-team play with the Bavarian giants, the Utah native thought it was a good time to make the move for his development.

“I became convinced in conversations with various people within FC Utrecht, which makes me very much looking forward to this adventure. I’m a box-to-box midfielder who has ball skills and likes to involve teammates in the game,” Booth said.
