German Recap: Joe Scally, Borussia Monchengladbach Share Spoils with Hoffenheim

Joe Scally and Borussia Monchengladbach finally stopped the bleeding from a horrendous losing run as they shared the points with Hoffenheim in the latest round of the German Bundesliga.

Hoffenheim 1-1 Borussia Mochengladbach

A stoppage-time strike from Kevin Akpoguma rescued Hoffenheim as they saved a point against struggling Borussia Monchengladbach at the PreZero Arena.

Joe Scally played the entire game for the Foals, completing 76 percent of his passes and winning two aerial battles. Chris Richards saw no action for Hoffenheim.

After losing four games in a row and allowing 17 goals, ‘Gladbach was looking to somehow end their slump. However, to do that, they had to outperform a hot Hoffenheim side that had gone five games unbeaten.

It looked it was going to be another horror show for the visitors as Hoffenheim was on the attack early on, but they could not find their way around goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

Monchengladbach started to get into the game with some chances themselves. They then took a shock lead in the 35th minute through Breel Embolo as he guided the ball home from a corner kick.

The second half would be much of the same as Hoffenheim pressed for the equalizer, but Sommer would do well to stop their attempts.

However, the hosts would find the goal to level the score in the 91st minute when Kevin Vogt lofted the ball into the area, leading to Ilhas Bebou heading it toward Akpoguma, who put it past Sommer.

Borussia Monchengladbach drop to 14th place in the standings with 19 points, while Hoffenheim are fifth with 28 points
